Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has dismissed allegations of malpractices in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam, which was released in January.
He appeared before the parliamentary Committee on Education and stated that the performance of certain counties, particularly Kisii and Nyamira, has been blown out of proportion in the media.
Machogu also compared Kenya’s pass rate to those of neighboring countries, Uganda and Tanzania, and claimed that the exam was credible.
The committee had launched an inquiry into the alleged malpractices and sought to examine the measures taken to curb examination cheating.
