Many female leaders were elected to gubernatorial positions in these elections, making history. Wavinya Ndeti, the governor of Machakos County, is one of them. Kalonzo Musyoka and outgoing governor Alfred Mutua attended her ceremony. However, one thing drew the attention of the public: relatives of Wavinya Ndeti’s late husband Henry Oduwale also attended the event.
Ndeti asked them to stand up and wave to the audience as she delivered her speech. She stated that her husband is proud of him no matter where he is. She then prayed that his soul rest in eternal peace.
Henry Oduwale, a Nigerian immigrant, died in 2016. He was born into a royal family in Nigeria and was a loving husband and father, according to Ndeti’s message on his death anniversary. Despite his death and the distance, his family maintains a close relationship with his wife.
Wavinya Ndeti officially takes over as Machakos’ second governor today.
