Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has vowed to protect Inspector-General of Police Japheth Koome from alleged intimidation by the opposition, after Azimio requested the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the IG.
In a letter to the ICC, Azimio accused Koome of violating the Constitution by declaring protests illegal.
Gachagua defended Koome’s actions and accused the opposition of trying to intimidate and harass him. He also gave Azimio “permission” to protest peacefully but warned against any plans involving property destruction.
Gachagua also spoke about reviving stalled development projects in Nyandarua County and urged Lands CS Zachary Njeru to issue title deeds for colonial villages in the county and the entire Mt Kenya region.
He also tasked Environment CS Soipan Tuya to pursue interventions for Lake Ol Bollosat, which has completely dried up.
