“Congratulations…” A Kenyan woman has been elected to a high-ranking position in the Britain

Elizabeth Kangethe, a Kenyan woman, has broken down political barriers across borders and continents by being elected councillor for Parsloes ward.

She announced the good news on her social media accounts, thanking God and the people of Parsloes ward for having placed their trust in her to serve them as their councillor once more.

“It is now official. Elizabeth Kangethe, Cllr. I’m grateful to Jehovah God and the residents of Parsloes Ward for re-electing me as their Labour Party Councillor for another four years. I promise to do my best to serve my people, so please help me, God.” Kangethe, Elizabeth

Ms Kang’ethe, who was born in Ngewa village, Githunguri in Kiambu County, made history in 2010 when she became the first British of Kenyan origin to be elected councillor on a Labour Party ticket.

In an interview with KTN News on January 9, 2016, she revealed that she attended Kambui Primary School and then St Annes Secondary School- Lioki in Kiambu County. Her desire to become a teacher led her to major in education in college.
