Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, left the country on Friday evening for the United States, where he will spend the next week. Raila left as his party was finishing its primaries nominations in order to meet the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s deadline. The tour is part of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s intense campaign to succeed him in August. Azimio is also looking for a suitable running mate for Raila Odinga.
Raila’s final trip abroad before the general election will be during this tour. Raila will spend the majority of his time in Washington, DC, as well as San Francisco, where he will meet with entrepreneurs and technology titans. Apart from that, Raila will meet with top US government officials, members of Congress, and a few key African leaders abroad. Raila will meet with Kenyans in the diaspora to discuss his plans.
