Sad news has just come in that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been shot and is presumed dead by a lone gunman who fired two shots at the former prime minister while he was holding a rally.
He was shot in the country’s western region at Nara, with police indicating that the suspect is already in custody.
The Shinzo appeared to be in a cardiorespiratory arrest, a term used to describe a feared death before it can be officially announced by the coroner, according to NHK and Kyodo.
Before gunshots could be heard, Abe was giving a speech ahead of Sunday’s Upper House elections.
According to reports, he was shot in the back and was bleeding from the neck as people surrounded him to give him a cardiac massage.
