Azimio reaps the benefits after another Mount Kenya leader returns from retirement and pledges to support Odinga.

The State House race is already at its peak, with political heavyweights seen campaigning in all corners of Kenya, looking for votes to fill the vacant presidency seat in August.

President Kenyatta, who was first elected with his deputy William Ruto, is expected to leave office in August after serving his two-term limit.

As a result, many politicians have come out to campaign for this top position. Former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga of the ODM party and his close rival, Deputy President William Samoei Ruto of the UDA party, are seen as the top contenders for the presidency.

The two major political contenders are thought to have popularized their political parties in many parts of Kenya, making them more popular than other presidential aspirants who are also vying for President Kenyatta’s baton.

If Kenyan elections were held today, it appears that either Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance or Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance would have formed the next government, inheriting President Kenyatta’s regime, which is set to end in August.

As the number of days until the next general election approaches, politicians can be seen declaring their support for the leaders.

Former Imenti legislature Honorable Gitobu Imanyara, who retired from politics in 2013, has resurfaced in politics, declaring his support for Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Honorable Raila Amollo Odinga.
