The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition has expressed doubts over the seriousness of the bipartisan talks aimed at reconstituting the electoral commissioners’ selection panel.
This came after Eldas MP Adan Keynan, who declared his support for the government of President William Ruto earlier this year, was named among the members of the government team that will meet with Azimio members.
The coalition has raised concerns that the issues they have brought up may not be properly resolved, with one proposal being the amendment of the Constitution to bar elected leaders from hopping to other parties after an election.
Some members of Azimio, including Narok Senator Ledama Olekina, have warned that they could take to the streets again if the government is not serious with the bipartisan approach.
