The campaign season is currently underway, and all presidential candidates have promised to reduce the cost of living once elected. Raila Odinga and William Ruto are both urging Kenyans to vote for them, claiming that if elected, they will reduce the cost of living within the first 100 days in office.
The cost of living is steadily increasing. Prices continue to skyrocket on a daily basis. Kenyans have now reacted to the current value of a Ksh1,000 note. According to a Ravine news post, for Ksh1,000 you can buy a 2kg packet of flour, 1 litre cooking oil, 1 kg rice, and 1kg meat.
Kenyans now claim that money cannot buy all of these things. “Ata haitoshi,” they say, claiming that those items will cost more than Ksh1,000. Cooking oil has increased by more than 20%, while 2kg of maize flour costs more than Ksh200.
