The Azimo one Kenya alliance filed the petition in an attempt to overturn the presidential election results.
The results were announced by the chairperson of the independent electoral and boundary commission amid sharp divisions within the commission.
Four commissioners, led by Juliana Cherera, denied involvement in the results. They also claim that the chairperson ignored them.

Dr. Ekuru Aukot claimed that the four commissioners lacked basic knowledge of their mandate.
He also stated that the next commissioners to take the helm of the IEBC should pass a written exam on election and legal issues.
The four commissioners came to public attention after holding a parallel press conference at the same time Wafula Chebukati announced the results at Bomas of Kenya.
