After the deal with Ruto, Ledama tells Mutua, “We’ll not miss you in Azimio.”

“Enjoy a blackout in the next regime,” Ledama said.

In Summary

• According to Ledama, those who chose to join the Kenya Kwanza caravan were never fully integrated into the Azimio la Umoja Alliance.

• Mutua announced on Monday that his party had severed ties with the Azimo camp due to being marginalized in Raila Odinga’s administration.

Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina has made light of the departure of Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Alfred Mutua from the Azimio coalition.
Ledama stated in a tweet on Monday that those who chose to join the Kenya Kwanza caravan were never fully in the Azimio la Umoja to begin with, and their absence will thus be felt.

“We will forget you…Enjoy a blackout in the next administration, “Ledama stated.

Mutua announced on Monday that his party had severed ties with the Azimo camp due to being marginalized in the Raila Odinga-led coalition.

He stated that the MCC signed an agreement in good faith with the Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza outfit on Sunday night.
Mutua told the press, “Deputy President William Ruto is a good man who will change this country.”
“Unlike Azimio, we signed this document and are familiar with its contents.”

“They cheated us and stole a zoning document. They have done nothing but manage us “Mutua elaborated.

However, in his response, Ledama downplayed the MCC’s impact on Raila’s bid for the presidency.

“Raila Odinga will undoubtedly become Kenya’s fifth President. Those who relocated to Kenya Kwanza were never with us “He stated.

Mutua’s departure from Azimio comes despite the fact that the Registrar of Political Parties, Anne Nderitu, stated on April 30 that none of the Azimio constituent parties could leave the formation.

She claimed that by signing the coalition agreement, Azimio became a registered coalition political party in accordance with section 7 (7) of the Political Parties Act 2011, and that she lacked the authority to degazette the constituent parties’ membership.

“As a result, except where the process outlined in the coalition agreement has been followed,” she said, “the registrar has no mandate to sanction the withdrawal as per your request.”

She was responding to a request to leave Azimio made by Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi’s Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) and Mutua’s MCC.
Mutua, on the other hand, dismissed the exit clause, claiming that the constitution guarantees freedom of association.

“You can’t make people join an organization they don’t respect,” he said.
