Today, a Group Commercial Director at a local media house was arraigned in court and charged with seven counts of threatening to kill. The accusations stem from a text message she allegedly sent to her ex-partner on June 14, 2019.
In court papers, the accused is said to have threatened to “finish” her ex-partner and “bloody Swarma combined.” The accused pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The defence lawyer argued that the accused’s alleged actions were a result of high emotions due to the separation and that the offence was committed over four years ago.
During the hearing, it was revealed that the accused and the complainant had been in a nine-year relationship that ended in 2019.
The complainant’s counsel, on the other hand, argued that the accused should be restrained from any contact with the complainant or witnesses and that the bond terms should reflect the time the complainant has been seeking justice.
The court will deliver the bail ruling at 2 pm.
