Poland imposes ban on Ukrainian agricultural products, drawing criticism from Kiev

Ukraine’s Ministry of Agriculture has accused Poland of violating an agreement reached last week that would limit and temporarily halt exports to Poland.

The allegation comes after Poland announced a ban on Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products citing the need to protect local markets from destabilization caused by the inflow of cheap produce from Ukraine.

The Ukrainian ministry argued that unilateral drastic actions would not accelerate a positive resolution of the situation and urged Warsaw to strike a new agreement that addresses the concerns of both sides.

Other Eastern European countries, including Hungary, have also announced similar bans on Ukrainian agricultural imports amid concerns over the inflow of cheap goods from the country.
