President William Ruto has announced that his government will reduce the price of maize flour starting from next week.
During the commissioning of the Mavoko water supply project in Machakos County on Friday, the President reassured residents that the government was taking steps to lower the cost of unga and asked the opposition to be patient.
He stated that the government’s recent move to import maize to improve food production was already underway, and market prices would soon reduce as planned.
The President also emphasized the importance of supporting local farmers, whose maize will play a significant role in ensuring the nation’s food security.
He dismissed the Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party’s anti-government protests, stating that they would not lead to a reduction in the cost of living.
The President also criticized the opposition leadership for causing economic hardship by collaborating with the previous government and urged them to allow him to steer the nation forward.
