The Azimio La Umoja presidential hopeful Raila Odinga has urged the coastal constituencies to vote for him overwhelmingly in the August 9 presidential election.
Odinga was speaking in an Azimio campaign during his tour to the coastal parts of the country on Wednesday, where he is popularizing his agenda.
The former Prime Minister has promised to reward those areas that will come out in their multitudes to vote for Azimio La Umoja presidency on August 9 2022.
“Mombasa kuna constituency sita. Ile constituency ambayo itapiga kura kwa wingi kwa upande wa percentage, itapata kikombe ya Baba. Mimi mwenyewe nitaleta hiyo kikombe na haitakuja hivyo. Itakuja na kitu ingine. Tunataka tushinde yule jamaa na 70%. Sitaki hata kura moja ilale nyumbani.
This can be roughly translated into;
“Mombasa has six constituencies. That constituency that will vote overwhelmingly in terms of percentage will receive a trophy of Baba. I will personally bring the trophy and it will not come just like that. It will come with something else. We want to beat that guy with 70%. I don’t want even a single vote to remain at home.”
Raila Odinga is currently leading the race to State House with 43% popularity compared to his Kenya Kwanza presidential competitor William Ruto who is given 37% popularity rate by research firm InfoTrak.
However, William Ruto has thrashed the particular opinion polls terming them as a scheme to make Azimio La Umoja think they are in the lead heading into the August general election.
