Dejected Kenyans react to Omanyala’s visa drama

Dejected Kenyans have angrily reacted to the Africa 100m world record holder Ferdinand Omanyala’s travel delay to the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America.

Omanyala was on the brink of missing at the contests until early Thursday when he finally got his visa. The star athlete is expected to jet out of Kenya later on the same day before arriving in the US 2 hours before the 100m event on Friday.

Following this hitch, Kenyans have taken to social media airing their disappointment;

Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS said; “The US visa delay controversy for our 100M sensation Ferdinand Omanyala should be an International Relations matter. A sportsman of Omanyala’s calibre should be treated like a diplomat and accorded such honour. He cannot just be stranded in a visa matter like a commoner!”

On his part, another Twitter user Bravin Yuri said; “Ferdinand Omanyala is the fastest man not only in Kenya but Africa. He deserves to be treated like a King. He is the Pride of Africa. How can he not be able to get a Visa in time for an Event, it is just heartbreaking and embarrassing at the same time. Pathetic!

“It is such kinds of treatment that get people to change their citizenship especially sportspersons. I hope Ferdinand Omanyala is treated better and doesn’t have to end up taking that route. This should be the last we hear of such. We only like to shout when he wins.”

Underrated Ninja also aird his views; “A list of names of the 32 joyriders from the Ministry of Sports who were granted VISA’s to travel to USA to do nothing while true athletes like Omanyala missed out for a chance to compete should be made public.”

After conquering Africa, Omanyala is seeking to leave a mark in the World Championships 100m event.
