The Roots Party has slapped its running mate Justina Wamae with a whip after taking away powers she had in the party’s affairs.
Through a decision made by the party’s National Executive Council, Yagnik Vinod Ramji has been appointed as the party’s deputy (NEC).
“Following a resolution by the Roots Party NEC in a meeting held at the head office, we confirm the appointment of new party officials,” the party said in a gazette notice.
Wajackoya confirmed this, saying Wamae was just his running mate and that after the August 9th, 2022 elections, she would have no role in the party.
“She was just a running mate for the presidential election on August 9,” Wajackoyah explained.
This schism comes after some disagreements between Wajackoyah and Justina Wamae, where the roots party saw she was breaking party rules.
