More political parties have joined the Azimio La Umoja Movement in their support for Raila Odinga’s presidential bid. Odinga is receiving support that he has never received before. Most importantly, he has the rare support of a sitting president. Uhuru Kenyatta, the Jubilee party leader and Azimio patron, wants Raila to be his immediate successor in order to remain politically relevant.

The Azimio parties have had to deal with zoning issues. There has been no clear path forward in this matter, leaving each party to struggle on their own. Kalonzo Musyoka withdrew his wiper candidate for Nairobi Governor to support Fred Ngatia just two days ago, only for news to emerge that the Azimio has settled for the Igathe-Wanyonyi ticket.

On Monday, Odinga urged Nyanza voters to use the six-piece voting pattern. Odinga, on the other hand, has taken a hit after Uhuru’s camp said no to this.

Odinga’s affiliate parties have demanded that he retract this statement. They claim that this will harm the coalition.
