On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, President Uhuru Kenyatta is slated to address Mount Kenya delegations and leaders at the Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri County.
The head of state is also anticipated to reveal his preferred presidential candidate and to advise his background on how to approach the August general elections.
The kenya political direction is expected to change course today after President Uhuru addresses the Sagana 3 meeting. Uhuru has been rumored to be supporting Azimio coalition leader Raila Odinga but is yet to publicly declare the same to his supporters. He is expected to do so today.
With the much hype around the event, thousands of MT Kenya residents streamed in the venue as early as 5 AM. Majority however, are still locked out of the venue.
A video shared online from the venue showed thousands of Kenyans already seated waiting for the President to arrive.
This has been dubbed “one of the most important meetings in Kenyan political history,” because a sitting president is expected to marshal his support behind the opposition leader.
Political observers believe that whatever occurs today at the Nyeri meeting will be President Uhuru’s legacy.
