Sabina Chege: If Karua is Raila’s running mate, she will bring undecided votes to Azimio.

Sabina Chege, a Murang’a Woman Representative, believes Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has enough clout to tip the presidential race in Raila Odinga’s favor if she is named the former prime minister’s running mate before the August elections.

Following Karua’s decision to join the Azimio la Umoja alliance on Wednesday, after a series of consultative negotiations between her party and Odinga’s camp, speculation has grown that she could soon be named Odinga’s deputy.

Sabina expressed her belief that the iron lady’s decision to join the political party had strengthened it, stating that her involvement with the party would undoubtedly result in more votes for Odinga.

Sabina, who appeared on Citizen TV’s JKLive show, believes Karua’s demonstrated track record in Kenyan politics will sway undecided female voters in Odinga’s favor.

“This is fantastic news for all Kenyan women and for the party that will select a female running mate.” Without a doubt, that is the party that the majority of women will vote for. This, I believe, will inspire.

So, if Martha is the one, we’ll be ecstatic, and I’m confident that the majority of those who are undecided will vote for Azimio.”

Despite the fact that Azimio has yet to name his running mate, Sabina believes Karua is one of the most qualified candidates to fill the void left by Deputy President William Ruto, and that the possibility of her being named Azimio’s running mate should not be dismissed.

I wouldn’t rule her out because she has extensive experience and is extremely dedicated. Even when we met with Maendeleo ya Wanawake, they supported her and the candidate she chose. According to the legislator, she also served in the administrations of late President Daniel Moi and retired President Mwai Kibaki.

Gladys Boss, an Uasin Gishu Woman Representative, stated that if Kenya Kwanza or Azimio approve a female candidate for the role of running mate, the coalitions will transform Kenya’s political scene.

“As a woman, I would be overjoyed if Azimio had a female candidate, especially one as strong as Martha Karua.” “I believe it would be a positive step in encouraging women to seek higher political positions,” said Boss.

She did, however, say that rumors that Karua would be Odinga’s running mate should be taken with a grain of salt because ODM and Azimio do not appear to have many women in key positions within their respective organizations.

Women have not been recognized in positions of leadership in ODM. “The minority leader in Parliament, the minority leader in the Senate, and the senior whip in the National Assembly are all men,” she said.

To bolster her case, Boss claimed that ODM appointed Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga to the finance Parliamentary committee only after President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga exchanged handshakes in March 2018, not before.

“Except for Kosgei, the top seven people on Raila’s campaign council are men…

So, yes, I believe they have a lot of work ahead of them in order to rehabilitate themselves. “Even if they give the position to a woman, there is still a lot that needs to be done,” she observed.
