Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has applauded the Step Taken By The President William Ruto On National Prayer Day To Apologize To The Youth of Kenya In Regards To His Leadership Mistakes.
“Your Excellency, during the prayer breakfast this week, there were apologies that were made: the speaker and yourself, which is wonderful as the first step to reconciliation. But then there is the issue of people who were injured and others who died during that time,” he stated.
“To our children, if there has been any misstep, we apologize,” remarked the President.
This Comes Amid Anti Government Protest That Led To Violence Between The Police and The Youth( Genzs) On 25th June 2024.
The Protest Came As a Result of Over Taxation in Finance bill That Youth Demanded The President To Drop It,This Violence Led To Death,And Injury Of Many Youth In Kenya.
“We have had several challenges. We have had a lot of issues. Two years ago, we were on the streets. And even last year Gen Z’s were on the streets,” said Raila while addressing the nation during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Homa Bay County on Sunday.
Raila Now Wants The President To Compensate The Families Of The Victims citing that Apology Is Not Enough!
The ODM leader Emphasizes that such a move is crucial for justice, healing, and national closure. He said justice for victims must begin with acknowledgement and reparation.
“We should compensate the families of those who died and those who were injured so that we can have a closure of this chapter of our nation’s history,” he said.
