Nyandarua County is one of Kenya’s forty-seven counties noted for agricultural pursuits like as potato farming.
Leaders of the county, led by county H.E Francis Kimemia, met with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) management on Saturday January 21st 2022 to discuss a potato deal. KFC is an American fast food franchise.
This comes just a few days after KFC, which primarily imports potatoes, ran out of chips during the previous year’s holiday celebration.
The meeting’s goal was to establish a market for local farmers’ potatoes, allowing them to sell them at a consistent, fair price throughout the year.
A committee will be formed to guarantee that the potatoes satisfy the requirements of international standards, according to agreements reached between Nyandarua county and KFC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Jacques Theunissen.
The committee will also be in charge of potato farming and storage. They will also meet on Wednesday next week to examine other important issues before full implementation.
