Ngunjiri Wambugu has leveled allegations against ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, stating that the former deputy prime minister is a political ploy to stir things up ahead of this year’s national elections.
Speaking on his social media accounts, the outspoken politician questioned Mudavadi’s decision to join DP Ruto’s party, claiming that no one should ever pretend that it was Uhuru who sent him.
“What if Musalia Mudavadi was sent into a coalition with UDA to mix things up? Though nobody should try to suggest that it’s Uhuru who sent him, even if Musalia Mudavadi could be described as what akina Ruto call a dynasty”. Hon. Ngunjiri Wambugu wrote.
Wambugu’s remarks follow sibling rivalry within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance following statements by Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua that Deputy President William Ruto will select his running mate from the Central region.
“But, in my opinion, Ruto is a presidential contender, and the running partner will emerge from the mountain at the perfect time,” Gachagua remarked in an interview with a local TV station.
Amani National Congress (ANC) Party Secretary General Simon Gakuru however faulted Gachagua’s sentiments describing them as premature as he has no authority to speak on behalf of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance political vehicle.
“Kenya Kwanza Coalition has not decided on its presidential and running mate candidates. This will happen and be unveiled at an appropriate time by our principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula,”he said.
Gakuru confirmed that the presidential flag bearer and running mate post was still up for grabs for either ANC or Ford Kenya as no deal has been arrived yet by any political party or community.
“As a result, it is our considered judgment that Hon Rigathi Gachagua should transition from a regional UDA mindset to embrace the bigger picture of Kenya Kwanza ideology,” he stated.
The Mathira MP, who is considered one of the frontrunners for Ruto’s running mate in the mountain, spilled the beans, stating that Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya), both members of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, were already aware that the running mate position was not open to them.
