Moses Kuria decries foul play by UDA brigade in Kenya Kwanza

Gatundu South Member of Parliament and Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria has decried unfair treatment by the United Democratic Alliance party under the umbrella of Kenya Kwanza political outfit.

Kuria, who is eyeing for the Kiambu County governorship seat under his CCM ticket in his latest sentiments says the UDA brigade has suspended their campaigns in the vote-rich Kiambu County to frustrate his ambitions of winning the August 9 gubernatorial race.

The controversial legislature claims UDA is drumming up support for Senator Kimani Wamatangi who is also running for the governor seat of the devolved unit of Kiambu under the ticket of presidential candidate William Ruto’s led party, UDA.

Earlier on, Kuria and former Kiambu County governor William Kabogo, who is also vying for the same position under his Tujibebe party boycotted Kenya Kwanza campaigns citing intimidation from UDA in Kenya Kwanza.

“This game is becoming interesting. The entire UDA brigade in Kiambu County has suspended their campaigns in 12 constituencies to shore up Wamatangi’s faltering campaigns and fight one Moses Kuria, not Azimio,” he wrote.

There was a standoff in the Kenya Kwanza campaigns in Kiambu on June 15 when Kabogo and Wamatangi clashed in the presence of Kenya Kwanza running mate Rigathi Gachagua, a scenario that led to the former governor bolt out of Kenya Kwanza campaign trails.

On June 20, Moses Kuria openly accused Ruto’s team of deceit and sidelining in the Mt Kenya region politics. Kuria said influential figures in UDA were undermining other leaders and ‘small ‘ parties affiliated to Kenya Kwanza.

Despite Kuria supporting Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid in the August 9 polls, UDA party has reportedly thrown its weight behind their candidate Kimani Wamatangi in the race for Kiambu County governorship race.

It remains unclear whether Kuria will continue popularizing the Kenya Kwanza’s agenda in the Central region of Kenya or not.
