Azimio- Raila Odinga, a Kenya Alliance presidential candidate, is expected to publicly name his running mate at the KICC buildings in Nairobi.
Everything is ready at the KICC buildings for the announcement of the running mate. A number of leaders from various political parties and regions have also arrived at the meeting location.
Residents of Kisumu County reacted hours before Azimio’s running mate announcement at KICC buildings. Raila’s political stronghold is Kisumu county.
Residents of Kisumu County have advocated for NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua and former Gatanga legislator Peter Kenneth to be named Azimio’s running mate.
Because of the gender issue, the majority of leaders preferred Martha Karua. According to one resident, if Raila chooses Martha Karua, he will receive a majority of votes from women across the country.
Other residents backed Peter Kenneth, saying he has long been loyal and supportive of Raila Odinga. They claimed that the former Gatanga legislator, who ran for president in 2013, has long supported Raila Odinga and deserves the seat.
