The ongoing debate sparked by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s claim that his deputy president wanted to impeach him has been gaining traction since yesterday.
According to his claim, the president told Kikuyu elders that his deputy president, William Ruto, wanted him out of office with the help of opposition chief Raila Odinga via a motion to be tabled in parliament.
In response, former Law Society of Kenya honorable Nelson Havi stated that the call to impeach the president was made by the Law Society of Kenya after the president failed to swear in the 41 judges, a violation of the Constitution.
Chief Justice David Maraga and Chief Justin Professor Willy Mutunga, he said, were responsible for the call. As a result, he believes Kenyans should be aware of the truth.
“If I recall, the call to parliament to impeach president Uhuru Kenyatta was made by LSK. It was prompted by his refusal to swear_in 41 judges in violation of the Constitution and court orders. CJ David Maraga and CJ pro Willy Mutunga SC supported the call. Kenyans deserve truth,” he posted.
