A 23-year-old man died after falling head-first as he landed from a moving truck in Kayole, Nairobi.
Joseph Gitau, who was driving the truck from Njiru to Kayole, leaped away as the vehicle dialed back, but the vehicle slid and landed on his head.
According to witnesses, the truck’s driver had no idea what had happened and continued driving.
Police were called to the scene, and the body was taken to the mortuary.
Residents said it is common to see people holding tight moving trucks.
Nairobi traffic police supervisor Joshua Omukata stated that the incidents are being investigated.
“We urge pillion passengers to always wear head protectors as a method of safeguarding themselves in the event of a mishap,” he said.
This follows another case along Lang’ata Road, where a female pillion traveler died after falling off a speeding motorcycle on Monday morning.
Benadine Mutua was riding on the cruiser when the rider lost control of the bike and collided with the pavement.
The traveler arrived on her head and exited immediately.
