I am prepared to testify before the IEBC about allegations of vote rigging — DP Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto has stated that he is prepared to come before the Electoral Independent and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to elaborate on the rigging charges he made during his trip to the United States.

Speaking to a local media through his director of communication, Emmanuel Talam, the DP stated that he is willing to work with the electoral commission to provide the necessary information to ensure that the country has a free and fair election this August.

“The DP is ready to cooperate with the IEBC to ensure that the election results are not compromised,” Talam said.

Talam, on the other hand, challenged the Commission to look into the statements made by Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege and EALA MP Oburu Odinga, who previously implied that the government would assist ODM leader Raila Odinga in rigging elections.

Ruto alleged a few days ago at the Karson Institute of Race, Peace, and Social Justice at Loyola University in Maryland, in the United States, that there are preparations among state authorities to undermine the country’s democracy in the August 9 general elections.

Following his statement, IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati committed to investigate it as part of its efforts to ensure a free and fair election.

“Once we get further information, the IEBC will investigate the allegations of rigging and issue a report to Kenyans. “The rule of conduct applies to all presidential candidates,” Chebukati, who spoke in Naivasha, added.
