DP Ruto revisits his “Congo has no cow remarks,” explaining what prompted him to make that remark.

Deputy President William Ruto, the UDA Presidential candidate, has retracted his “Congo has no cows” statement, claiming that it was not his intention to say that and that he was misquoted.

Ruto while speaking on Thursday to the Kenya private sector Alliance explained what he meant was that Kenyans enjoy a lot the Congolese music and Kenya should therefore sell them milk. The second in command further added that it was a slip of the tongue when he said that Congo have no cows.

I was misquoted. I was saying we enjoy their music and they can be our market.” The DP said.

Ruto while addressing Nyeri Milk traders in the county of Nyeri on February 15, pledged to find for them a bigger market for their milk if elected president come August Elections.

It is here where he made the controversial remarks that landed him in trouble with the DR Congo government which later demanded for an apology from him.

“Tuko na soko kuanzia hapa DRC, hawa wako 90 million na hawana hata ng’ombe moja. (We have a market here in DRC. These people have a population of about 90 million but they own no cow,” Ruto said.

The Kenya kwanza leader later apologised over the remarks, saying that he regretted the misunderstanding his remarks had caused.
