Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alleges that had the Kenya Kwanza government lost the August 2022 presidential election, he would currently be imprisoned.
Speaking in Mathira, Nyeri County, on Friday, Gachagua thanked the locals for supporting his candidacy and voting for President William Ruto, implying that a negative election outcome would have resulted in him serving time at Kamiti Maximum Prison.
The DP recounted how his political opponents had conspired to detain him before the polls.
Gachagua humorously mentioned that one rival politician had even suggested he be jailed at King’ong’o Maximum Prison so that his people could bring him porridge.
