CNN’s Planned 11 PM Show Hosted by Laura Coates Unlikely to Happen

CNN’s senior legal analyst and Sirius XM host, Laura Coates, who was supposed to become the host of CNN’s 11 p.m. hour, has not solo-hosted the show since February.

According to a report from Insider, the show is unlikely to move forward as planned. The network cited an inability to staff a separate hour at this time, and stated that it is currently concentrating its efforts on setting permanent plans for the 9 and 10 p.m. hours. Coates remains on rotation for other hosting opportunities.

The situation has once again raised questions about the diversity of CNN’s primetime programming, particularly in light of Don Lemon’s move to mornings last fall.

The absence of Coates at 11 p.m. also brings up the issue of the show’s executive producer, Eric Hall, who was originally supposed to executive produce the 11 p.m. hour but is now working on CNN Primetime at 9 p.m.
