Boniface Muchiri is leaving Tusker to join the Ulinzi stars.
By next week, the 25-year-old is slated to enroll in the Recruit Training School in Eldoret, and after completing his six-month training, he will be a member of the Ulinzi stars.
Muchiri made his first debut for Tusker after joining from the now-defunct Sony Sugar FC in 2017. In 2018, he scored two goals in two games for Tusker, assisting his team to two league crowns in the 2020/2021 FKF Premier league and super cup.
He also represented Kenya’s U23 and senior national teams, the Harambee Stars, during that time. Nzoia Sugar FC was another club where the attacker played.
Muchiri’s last encounter with the Brewers was against Sofapaka on Sunday, which finished in a barren tie at Ruaraka’s home field.
This concludes his five-year career with Tusker FC in Ruaraka, with his head coach Robert Matano wishing him well as he transitions to the military. He praised him for being a skilled and disciplined player.
“He is like a son to me, and I understood his decision when he told me about it. It’s sometimes necessary to look beyond football to see what’s going on in life. This is an emotional occasion for me because I recruited him and we’ve worked together since I started. I wish him the best of luck in his new endeavor “Robert Matano, the head coach, stated.
Muchiri, who was also overcome with emotion, thanked everyone at the club and wished the team the best of luck. He spoke a few words of admiration for Matano, the coach.
“For the past five years, Tusker has been a family to me, and I am eternally thankful.” Tusker FC has shaped me into the player I am today.
“I got to play for the national team here, won the league title and the Super Cup here, and I grew as a player and a person here, and I want to thank everyone from the management, my teammates, and the technical bench, especially coach Robert Matano, who was like a father to me, may God bless him,” he said.
He went on to say that while football is a career, he couldn’t refuse an offer from the KDF. “For some of us, football is a brief career. We are in charge of looking after our parents at home.
