Beth Mugo, President Uhuru’s cousin and nominated Senator, has proposed renaming Thika Road after the late President Mwai Kibaki. She is clear that the former president built the road from the ground up, and it is only fitting that it be named after him so that he can be remembered.
Beth Mugo is clear that, just as several things were named after senior Kenyatta in recognition of his enormous achievements, the same should be done for Kibaki. She is clear that the former president accomplished a great deal, and it is only fair that he be recognized by naming Thika Road after him.
Beth Mugo has vowed to have a sitting with Uhuru Kenyatta so that the road can be named afresh owing to Kibaki’s achievements. However it’s clear, Kibaki never wanted roads named after him as he was only after the interest of the country.
Whether Uhuru Kenyatta will order Thika road to be named after Mwai Kibaki only time will tell. However as we go into the future, it’s clear nobody has achieved as much like has been achieved by Mwai Kibaki in his record of ten years as president.
