Ollie Watkins scored twice as Aston Villa defeated Newcastle 3-0, bringing the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League wide open on Saturday.
Villa’s win, which also saw Jacob Ramsey score, was their seventh in eight games and brought them within six points of third-placed Newcastle.
This defeat means Tottenham can level on points with Newcastle if they beat Bournemouth. Unai Emery’s men are the form side in the battle for a place in next season’s Champions League with 22 points from the last possible 24.
Villa, who have scored in all 20 games under Emery, could have been three up inside 15 minutes, with Watkins being denied a goal by VAR.
