Authorities are investigating two separate incidents in Kenya, one involving the death of a female student and another of a 45-year-old man.
In the first incident, 27-year-old Lydiah Karimi, a student at Kenya Medical Training College, was found dead in her single rented room in Meru. Police believe that she suffocated while cooking meat on a gas cooker.
In the second incident, Christopher Ndegwa Mugo was found dead in his house in Embakasi, Nairobi. His friend found him with a rope stretching diagonally to a steel nail pinned on the wall and blood oozing from his mouth.
The cause of his death is yet to be determined. Both bodies have been moved to a local mortuary for autopsy while police continue to investigate the cases.
