A leaders’ conference on alcoholism and drug abuse in the Mt Kenya region will be chaired by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua today.
The event will take place in Nyeri and is set to be attended by politicians, security teams, and officials from the National Authority for Campaign against Drugs.
Ministries of Health and Trade, Kenya Revenue Authority, and Kenya Bureau of Standards will also be represented. Gachagua said that the conference would focus on implementing radical measures to eliminate illicit brews.
The deputy president revealed that the President had instructed him to convene the meeting, which would propose far-reaching measures on how to deal with the alcohol menace and drug abuse in the region.
He warned that those who would miss the conference would be answerable to the people.
