Mudavadi Announces Plans to Introduce Bill on Performance Monitoring of Public Servants

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has revealed that he is working on a bill to improve the performance monitoring of public servants in the country. The former deputy prime minister and current leader of the Amani National Congress made the announcement during the release of the report on the evaluation of the performance of ministries, state corporations and tertiary institutions for the 2021/2022 financial year at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi.

Mudavadi highlighted the importance of ensuring that public servants are held accountable for their performance and delivering quality services to citizens. He expressed concern over the current system of performance evaluation, which he described as inadequate and lacking in transparency.

The proposed bill, according to Mudavadi, will seek to establish a framework for monitoring the performance of public servants and providing a basis for objective evaluation. It will also outline the consequences for poor performance, including disciplinary action and possible dismissal.

The move by Mudavadi has been welcomed by many Kenyans who feel that the current system of performance monitoring is ineffective and often results in poor service delivery. There have been numerous cases of public servants engaging in corrupt practices and failing to deliver on their mandate, leading to public outcry and calls for reform.
