Barcelona’s legendary midfielder Xavi Hernandez has responded to the fans’ chants for Lionel Messi during the team’s match against Girona on April 3rd. The supporters were heard chanting Messi’s name after Barcelona went down 2-0 in the first half. However, Xavi called for patience, saying that the team needs time to rebuild and that it is normal for fans to miss the Argentine superstar.
In an interview after the match, Xavi said, “We have to be patient, we have to give the team time to rebuild. We have lost the best player in the world, who has been here for 20 years. It is normal that people miss him, but we have to keep working hard.”
Xavi is a Barcelona legend, having won numerous titles with the club during his playing career. He is currently the head coach of Qatari club Al-Sadd, but has been linked with a return to Barcelona as their next manager.
Barcelona has struggled this season since Messi’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain, with the team currently sitting in third place in La Liga. The Catalan giants have already been knocked out of the Champions League and Copa del Rey, leaving only the league title as a potential silverware for this season.
