Moments after the heated deputy presidential debate pitting the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition and Kenya Kwanza running mates Martha Karua and Rigathi Gachagua respectively, leaders aligned to Kenya Kwanza’s camp have unleashed an attack on Martha Karua of Azimio La Umoja.
Gachagua and Martha Karua took on each other in the Tuesday’s heated debate with everyone defending their respective political outfits manifestos heading into the August general election, Gachagua insisting that Ruto is the right fit for the country’s presidency, same as Martha Karua who solidly backed Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
However, leaders in Ruto’s camp have quickly reacted to how Martha Karua apparently ‘struggled’ to articulate issues during the event. Gachagua was perceived as the underdog prior the discussion but things unfolded differently, according to UDA’s followers.
Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi took to his social media pages expressing his schock and disbelief in how the debate went down;
“I have noted with concern that we are all equal despite different educational backgrounds. The wiadom is the one that matters a lot. I have always thought Martha Karua is so brilliant kumbe ni mtu wa kubangaiza tu kama wakenya wengine.” Oscar Sudi wrote.
Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria also attacked Martha Karua after the debate.
“Apana! This is not the Martha I know. We need prayers. As a Catholic I ask my friend Father Dominic Wamugunda to intervene,” Moses Kuria said.
Kirinyaga Governor who is also seeking to defend her seat on a UDA ticket also went after the Azimio La Umoja deputy presidential candidate on an alleged land scandal.
“Martha’s evasive on this debate including on south Ngariama land. She knows we can provide evidence on her family benefitting on it while she was cabinet minister. That is why they will not allow us to complete titling the land,” Ann Waiguru said.
On his part, the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen praised Rigathi Gachagua for standing out in the debate.
“Rigathi Gachagua is the radiance of wisdom and brilliance. His critics are shocked but we are not. He is the man we have come to know and appreciate as Kenya Kwanza team. He is practical. He is the DP we need at this very challenging time in our country,” Murkomen took to twitter.
