Africa men’s 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala has conceded defeat at the ongoing World Athletics Championships Oregon22 after failing to advance to the finals of the sprints on Sunday.
Omanyala, who beat jetlag to qualify for 100m semifinals for men on Saturday bowed out of the championships after running 10.14 and finishing 5th in heat 3, missing out on the finals.
Moments after the race, Omanyala took the defeat as a challenge to keep moving.
“Every challenge you face today makes you stronger tomorrow. The challenge of life is intended to make you better, not bitter. Persistence and resilience only come from having been given the chance to work through difficult problems. No matter how much falls on us, we keep moving,” Omanyala said.
The 100m men’s race was won by homenoy Fred Kerley.
Meanwhile, Ferdinand Omanyala will now go back to the drawing board and prepare for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games after the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
