Tukisema historia yako wacha kulialia – Karua tells Ruto off

The Azimio la Umoja running mate Martha Karua has blasted the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto for running away from his reputation.

Speaking at a political rally at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Saturday, Karua called upon Ruto to accept his flaws as a leader during his tenures in public office.

Karua has in many occasions accused Ruto of mismanaging public properties unlike her boss and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga whom she terms as a patriot.

“You my brother and competitor, when we mention about your history stop complaining. That’s your legacy,” Karua said amid cheers from the mammoth crowd at Bukhungu.

“If you see any modern road in the country today, that is Raila’s plan. His good work has seen him appointed in a key infrastructure position at the African Union. To my competitors who have also served in government previously, what have they done even in their villages?” Karua posed.

Since her appointment as Raila’s potential deputy, Martha Karua has changed the narrative of Odinga’s popularity in the Central Kenya region. She has turned the tables in the vote-rich Mt Kenya regions that Ruto and his United Democratic Alliance party seemingly enjoy massive following.

Pundits say Raila Odinga has gained a lot in terms of support from all the Central Kenya counties with Karua winning favour over Kenya Kwanza’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua.

Karua, famously referred to as the Iron Lady is arguably a no nonsense leader who does not tolerate corruption along her line of duty. She has promised to deal with the vice should her team get the chance to run the government.

Judging from the attendance and turnout at Bukhungu on Saturday, the votes basket of Azimio la Umoja in the larger Western region looks promising.
