Kenyans raised their eyebrows after the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) rally in Kiambu on Saturday, June 18, drew fewer supporters.
Today the two major alliances for the top seat staged rallies in different parts of the country with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance heading to Meru County where a major rally was experienced at Kinoru stadium.
Their Kenya Kwanza counterparts traveled to Kiambu County, where they held a rally in Ndumberi Stadium to promote the bottom-up economic model. Their rally comes just days after a spat between UDA’s Kimani Wamatangi and William Kabogo, who threatened to boycott Kenya Kwanza rallies unless their grievances were fully addressed.
While Raila Odinga and his troops received a warm welcome in Meru from a large crowd, their counterpart in Kenya Kwanza received a cold reception after only a handful of people attended the rally. This was confirmed after a video clip from NTV was shared showing the extremely low turnout.
Unlike previous rallies, where large crowds were seen cheering and celebrating as leaders spoke, the Saturday rally was rather dull and uninspiring. This has since become a laughingstock, particularly among Azimio allies supporters, who have made jokes, with some claiming that people have already relocated to Azimio.
