Several Mitumba shopkeepers have expressed their outrage in response to comments made by former Kenyan Prime Minister and Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga against Mitumba clothing in the country.
According to a reliable source, the former Kenyan prime minister allegedly threatened to close the company in order to resurrect the Kenyan textile industry, which he claimed had died when people began importing clothes from other countries.
In response to these words, a number of businessmen and women have criticized Kenya’s former Prime Minister, claiming that he is unconcerned about the job opportunities provided by the country.
Most Kenyans asked the previous Kenyan Prime Minister to come and see the country for himself before making important decisions about the country’s businessmen and women.
Simultaneously, Kenya’s former Prime Minister believes his words have been exaggerated or misinterpreted. Raila Odinga stated in his own words that one of his main goals is to make Kenya a better place, adding that the beginning of clothing importation from abroad devastated Kenya’s textile industry.
