I Fully Endorse Raila,Ruto Collaboration: Anyang Nyongo

Kisumu Governor Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has commended President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for their recent joint visit to Kisumu County, praising their collaboration as a major stride toward national unity and local development.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Governor Nyong’o thanked both leaders on behalf of Kisumu residents and the county government, describing the visit as a “successful and impactful engagement” marked by the launch of key infrastructure and housing projects.

“We sincerely thank President William Ruto and Raila Odinga for their joint efforts and commitment to Kisumu’s growth,” Nyong’o stated.

Among the highlights of the visit were the commissioning of the Makasembo Affordable Housing Project – Phase 1, the Lake Victoria Marina Housing Project in Kirembe, and the groundbreaking for Phase 3 of the Makasembo development.

The governor also recognized Raila Odinga’s donation of five hectares of land for the Kirembe housing initiative, calling it a powerful demonstration of his long-standing dedication to the region’s development. “This act of generosity reinforces the national agenda of ensuring decent and affordable housing for all Kenyans,” he said.

Governor Nyong’o further lauded ongoing infrastructure efforts led by the national government, including the upgrade of the Mamboleo–Miwani Road and the construction of the Sh3 billion Kabonyo Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Training Centre in Nyando. The facility, currently in its initial phase, is expected to produce 28 million fingerlings annually to support fish stocks in Lake Victoria.

He also noted progress at Kisumu International Airport, where a Sh314 million Air Traffic Control Tower—now 80% complete—is part of a broader effort to enhance regional air traffic operations.

Nyong’o emphasized the importance of the growing collaboration between Ruto and Odinga, describing it as a symbol of reconciliation and national progress. “We fully support their joint vision and the spirit of unity that underpins the Broad-Based Government initiative,” he concluded.
